Joanne considers dance to be the foundation of her identity, shaping her into the person she is today. Joanne has completed the entirety of the Shumka School of Dance program, alongside 15 years of RAD ballet and contemporary training, and many years of both attending, and helping to lead Shumka Summer Dance Camps. Joanne has been a dedicated dancer since the age of just three years old, and can often be found at the studio 5 or 6 days per week continuing her dance training with Studia Shumka, as well as instructing part-time with the Shumka School of Dance, where she is fortunate enough to be able to share her passion for dance with her other passion, working with children.

 In the fall, Joanne will be attending the University of Alberta to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree in Education so she can continue her goal of becoming an educator. On the days Joanne is not found at the Shumka Dance Centre or busy studying, she enjoys activities such as baking, reading, and finding a good show to watch.
