Ski Adirondack Chair
And now for another unique online auction item created by members of the Shumka Family. The Matwie Family designed and made an Adirondack Chair from old skis in the traditional colours of the Ukrainian flag. Perfect for a cabin, ski lodge or backyard deck, this is definitely a one-of-a-kind piece that will get a lot of attention for years to come!
About the Matwie Family
The Matwie Family is a two-generation Shumka Family. Cameron joined Shumka in 1993 and danced for three years. Retirement came way too early due to a broken ankle (not from dance). Prior to hanging up his red boots, Cameron was fortunate to have been part of the Cross-Canada tour of Absolutely Shumka in 1995.
Mary Jean (MJ) started dancing at the age of 3 in Calgary. With a love for Ukrainian Dance instilled upon her by her Dad, she dreamed of following in his footsteps. When the Matwie family moved back to Edmonton in 2017, MJ joined the Shumka School where she danced for two years. Presently she dances with Studia Shumka and looks forward to one day dancing for the Company.
Melanie, with no dance background, is the family’s supporter, shuttle driver, volunteer, costume maker and cheerleader. Her love for dance comes from watching MJ grow and develop and through the passion of both her daughter and husband.
