Ava Moser started her Ukrainian dance journey at the age of three in Fort McMurray, taking ballet and tap lessons. After going to see her first Shumka show that year, she fell in love with Ukrainian dance. She then enrolled with the Avrora Ukrainian Dancers in 2007 before ultimately moving to Edmonton to join Shumka School in 2014. After graduating from the School in 2019, Ava spent two years training with Studia Shumka before successfully auditioning for the Ukrainian Shumka Dancers in 2021. Ava’s love for Ukrainian dance truly sprouted from the influence and whirlwind of Shumka and continued to grow as she attended Shumka Summer Dance Camps every year. Ava has been an instructor with the Shumka School of Dance since 2017 teaching in all three tiers of the school. She is currently certified in Tier 1 Syllabus examination and is excited to continue with her certifications. She also has had experience teaching contemporary, and ballet classes outside of the Shumka School of Dance. In addition to teaching dance, Ava has been a part of a few Shumka shows including, Shumka’s Nutcracker, Whirlwind Summer, Mosquito’s Wedding, and Echoes of Hopak. Touring across Canada has been a highlight in her Shumka career so far and looks forward to more travel adventures with the company. Ava has also been completing a degree in Psychology and will be graduating in the spring with her Bachelor’s degree and entering a graduate degree for elementary education. When she is not teaching dance or at school, Ava is working in schools in order to further her hands-on training and knowledge of working with children.
