Abigail began her dance journey in Fort McMurray with the Avrora Ukrainian dancers at the age of four. When she was eight years old, following her family to Edmonton, she enrolled in the Shumka School of Dance. Her experience in dance grew as she took part in different styles such as RAD ballet and contemporary movement, as well as Shumka School’s Intensive Division. Abigail spent 2022-2023 dance season with Studia Shumka to help guide her towards her goal of Shumka, which she is now pursuing as an apprentice member of the Ukrainian Shumka Dancers. As well, Abigail has completed her RAD Intermediate ballet exam under the training of Shumka School Ballet Mistress, Tamsin Carreck.

Abigail’s love for teaching began when she took part in the Leader In Training program for Shumka Summer Dance Camps. Since then, she has continued to teach many young students who share a love for Ukrainian culture and dance. Abigail has continued her instructor journey becoming a certified Tier 1 instructor with the Shumka Dance Syllabus Academy in 2022. She hopes to build off of this foundation and continue to teach and inspire young dancers for years to come.
