Taryna Marko joined Shumka in 2018. She began dancing at the age of four, taking ballet, tap, and Ukrainian, with her dad being her Ukrainian dance instructor for twelve years. At 14, she decided to join the Shumka School of Dance to further advance her Ukrainian dance training. With the School, she had the opportunity to travel to Ukraine, where she performed and took workshops with various Ukrainian dance companies. This experience inspired her to audition for Shumka the following year. Being a part of Shumka’s 60th tour is an honour for Taryna as she sees Shumka as an integral part of the Ukrainian dance community. She is continuing her training in tap dance and is presently a Ukrainian dance instructor at DanceCo, in St. Albert.  Outside of dance, Taryna enjoys playing basketball, piano, skating in the winter and longboarding in the summer.  She is currently pursuing a dual degree in Science and Education at Campus Saint-Jean.
