He/Him Nick Hynek, originally from Lloydminster, AB, has been Ukrainian Dancing for 20 years. Most recently dancing with the Viter Ukrainian Dancers for the past 8 years and travelling all over North America and Europe performing for thousands of people. Nick fell in love with performing from a young age and through his passions of music, acting and dancing. After seeing his first Shumka show at the age of 10, he was inspired to commit to his love of dance.

Nick has been involved in the Ukrainian community for many years and has been a dance instructor for several schools here in Alberta and continues to teach workshops throughout Canada.

Nick graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education in 2017. He had the opportunity of a lifetime to teach at Novopecherska School in Kyiv, Ukraine in 2021. When Nick returned home from Ukraine due to unforeseen circumstances, he joined Shumka in February of 2022 to pursue his love and passion for Ukrainian dance and is looking forward to his first performance in Shumka’s production of Mosquito’s Wedding.
