Calynn Lirette always knew she wanted to dance with Shumka. She started dancing at the age of three with Shumka School of Dance and for two years as a dancer in Clara’s Dream. She trained in many different dance styles and was also a competitive figure skater. She counted down the years until she was old enough to audition, which finally came in 2017 when she joined the company. She loved Shumka at 50 and knew she wanted to be a part of Shumka at 60, especially having seen almost all of Shumka’s shows. Calynn is especially excited about performing Mosquito’s Wedding as part of Shumka 60 as she had to get surgery just two weeks before the World Premiere in 2019. She is studying Nursing at the University of Alberta and values giving back to her community.
