She/Her — Breanna Senko started dancing at the age of 3 at rural dance clubs in Westlock and Thorhild. While there, she took part in jazz, ballet, contemporary and Ukrainian dance. As she grew older, she became more serious about Ukrainian dance and wanted to be more connnected to her Ukrainian heritage, and at the age of 11 she decided to move to Shumka School of Dance. While with Shumka School she fell in love with the Shumka community so much so that she wanted nothing more than to grow up and become a Shumka Dancer. During her years at SSD, she took part in Shumka shows such as Ancestors and Elders and was also involved in helping backstage at the Nutcracker shows. After graduating from the SSD program in 2022 she auditioned for Shumka and was accepted with her younger brother. Breanna is currently finishing high school with the dream to attend the U of A and get her bachelor’s in science and pursue a career in the medical field.
