Originally from Alberta, Margaret Dalwood began her ballet training at Alberta Ballet School under the guidance of Ruth Carse. She pursued her professional studies in England, graduating from the Arts Educational School, Tring Park. Upon returning to Canada, Ms. Dalwood joined the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, where she taught in the Professional Teacher Training Program and led the Senior Ballet Levels for the Intensive Program from 1998 to 2004.
In 2004, she founded Cecchetti Dance Theatre in Edmonton, directing the school until 2014 before joining Alberta Ballet. This new partnership marked the return of Alberta Ballet School to Edmonton, with Ms. Dalwood taking on the role of Head of the Open Division. During her tenure with Alberta Ballet, she also served as Rehearsal Director for the Nutcracker children’s cast and Rehearsal Regisseur (Children’s Cast) for productions including Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Alice in Wonderland, and Our Canada.
In 2025, Ms. Dalwood became Ballet Mistress with Canada’s Ukrainian Shumka Dancers, joining their artistic team.
Margaret Dalwood is a Fellow and Examiner for Cecchetti Canada. She remains active in the ballet community, traveling nationwide to guest teach masterclasses and present at national conferences on classical ballet.
