Alyssa Shukalek was first introduced to Shumka during her many years as a student in the Shumka School of Dance. She grew up watching various Shumka productions which inspired her to hope to one day become a part of the company. Alyssa auditioned in 2018 and has been a dancer in the company for seven years now. She has had incredible opportunities such as collaborating with esteemed national and international artists, performing with the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, and touring productions nationally.

As a proud Canadian-Ukrainian, Alyssa is thrilled and grateful to have the opportunity to showcase her culture with new audiences across Canada and the US. Besides dancing, Alyssa received her Bachelor of Arts (Honors) degree in psychology in 2023, is currently finishing her Masters of Education in School and Clinical Child Psychology, and is starting her PhD this coming fall 2025.
