We are an organization inspiring the ongoing evolution of Canadian-Ukrainian dance. We are a dance company, school and community that promotes, develops and preserves Canadian-Ukrainian culture as professional artists and community leaders.
YOU CAN EXPECT TO…
Implement Our Strategic Vision
- Uphold the vision, mission, and mandate of the Ukrainian Shumka Dancers (USD) in all aspects of artistic and business operations;
- Lead the implementation of the strategic vision of the USD;
- Manage the business operations that support artistic development of the professional company and Shumka School of Dance.
- Work hours to align with needs of events and performances.
Lead Organizational Operations
- Provide direct supervision to and management of staff and contractors of the company;
- Collaborate closely with the Artistic Director to supervise staff in the production of large and small-scale artistic works, including scheduling performances, company management, and the hiring of production staff;
- Ensure timely updates of CADAC financial and statistical reporting.
Reputation & Fund Development
- Pursue government, corporate, and private donor relationships to support the operations, projects, and strategic goals of the company;
- Provide financial stewardship and leadership for the company including budgeting and opportunity/risk management;
- Create and support opportunities for stakeholder engagement and retention (dancers, staff, board, school, alumni, donors, community);
- Manage brand awareness of the company to support visibility within the performing arts industry both locally and nationally.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- 5+ years experience in a leadership or management position, preferably in the arts, culture, or not-for-profit sector;
- Degree in arts management, fine arts or business administration;
- Experience developing community/stakeholder relationships;
- Previous experience working with a Board of Directors.
IT WOULD BE EVEN BETTER IF YOU ALSO HAD …
- Experience in grant administration and working knowledge of Canada’s public funding agencies and foundations;
- An understanding of performing arts within Edmonton, AB and the Canadian arts industry;
- An understanding of the multicultural and historical background of Shumka and its current and potential role within the Canadian performing arts industry.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER
- Full time employment opportunity with hybrid work scenario
- Salary of $75,000 (negotiable based on qualifications and experience)
- Opportunities to travel when performing outside of Edmonton, AB
