“Shumka has allowed me to appreciate all kinds of dance…the memory of the muscles, the music, the movement…I can see any kind of dance and get excited.”
For the last 60 years, Gene Dub has been a driving force behind Shumka. One of the original dancers to perform in 1959, Gene later went on to serve on Shumka’s Board of Directors from 2013-2017. A renowned philanthropist and architect (whose portfolio includes Edmonton’s City Hall), Gene was a key figure in the development of the Shumka Dance Centre in downtown Edmonton. It’s no stretch to say that we would not be here today without Gene’s generosity and vision. Thank you, Gene.
