There are many people who have given so much back to Shumka and for so many reasons. For Evan Zukiwsky, the people that made up the company was his motivating factor.

“I always wanted to be part of the organizational and leadership roles in the company because of the people who influenced me. I learned from those people who were amazing leaders. After my dancing career was done, I wanted to continue to help the organization grow as much as it could.”

After seeing a show in 1984, Evan worked his way into the company and continued to work for it behind the scenes. The company helped him develop his leadership abilities, which have in turn been a part of Shumka’s success.

“It’s important to give or give back to Shumka because it’s a good cause. It’s not just dance, it’s a community. Through the students and parents of the school, the Seniors can Shumka program, and the alumni, Shumka is a community. That’s why I continue to support the company.”
