Dorianne Martyniuk grew up watching Shumka’s shows, so from the time she was little, it became something to aspire to. When she was 16, Dorianne auditioned and was accepted into the company. Over her 10 years, Dori learned a lot about dance, an organization, and family, which all came in handy in other parts of her life. She choreographed dances for Shumka, but Dori also choreographed figure skating routines, including some for olympic champion Jamie Salé.
In addition to serving as president of Shumka, Dorianne has been a part of Shumka’s 50th Anniversary celebrations and has continued to give back to Shumka because of the connections she built.
“It’s such a unique experience for so many of us that we are just so connected. We need to continue to support each other. Looking at where Shumka is today, we need those connections more than ever. We need to have a grounding for people to continue to support the organization.”
Thank you, Dorianne.
